Howard County police have charged two Baltimore men in connection with three armed robberies that took place in June. The suspects are accused of targeting the homes of local business owners.
The three incidents occurred over a span of two weeks. In each case, the victims were business owners who were followed home after closing their shops for the night. Police say the suspects would then force their way into the homes at gunpoint, demanding cash and valuables.
The first robbery happened on June 10. The second took place on June 17, and the third on June 24. All three were in Howard County. In each case, the victims were not physically harmed, but they were left shaken.
Detectives used surveillance footage and license plate readers to track a vehicle linked to the crimes. They identified the suspects as 23-year-old Derrick Johnson and 24-year-old Marcus Williams, both from Baltimore. Police arrested them on July 12.
Both men are now charged with armed robbery, home invasion, and related offenses. They are being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center. Police say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with additional information to come forward.
Authorities also reminded business owners to stay alert when leaving work late at night. They suggest varying routes home and being aware of any vehicles that may be following.
