Las Vegas has climbed to its highest position in years on a prominent annual list of best American cities, landing at seventh place in the latest report from Resonance Consultancy. The ranking, which evaluates major U.S. metropolitan areas based on livability, economic strength, and cultural appeal, placed Las Vegas ahead of larger hubs like Boston and Houston.
The report credits the city's strong post-pandemic recovery, including a surge in new residents and business relocations. Analysts highlighted the expansion of the Las Vegas Strip's entertainment offerings beyond traditional gambling, as well as growing investments in the arts, dining, and professional sports. The arrival of the NHL's Golden Knights and the NFL's Raiders has helped reshape the city's image as a year-round sports destination.
Resonance also noted improvements in Las Vegas' infrastructure, including upgrades to McCarran International Airport and ongoing development in the downtown area. The city scored well for its diversity of attractions and relatively affordable housing compared to other top-ranked metros like San Francisco and New York.
While Las Vegas has often been dismissed as a transient tourist hub, the report suggests it is increasingly seen as a viable place to live and work. The top five spots went to New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Seattle. Las Vegas' seventh-place finish marks a significant jump from previous years, when it typically hovered around the middle of the pack.
