We recently undertook a renovation of our small, outdated kitchen, aiming to create a space that feels larger, more modern, and ultimately more functional. With a budget of $10,000, we made several design choices that not only saved us money but also significantly enhanced the openness of our kitchen.
One of the most impactful decisions was opting for open shelving instead of traditional upper cabinets. This choice not only reduced costs but also made the kitchen feel more spacious and airy. We also decided to forgo a full backsplash, instead using paint to create a clean, cohesive look that was both stylish and budget-friendly.
Additionally, we invested in multi-functional furniture, such as a kitchen island that doubles as a dining area. This not only maximizes our space but also encourages a more social atmosphere. Through these thoughtful design choices, we transformed our kitchen into a modern hub without breaking the bank.
