The bowling alley and entertainment venue Lucky Strike has permanently closed its Wrigleyville location, leaving a gap in the neighborhood's nightlife scene near the ballpark. The business, which operated at 3535 North Clark Street, did not provide a specific reason for the sudden shutdown. However, the move comes shortly after the CEO of its parent company, Bowlero Corporation, acknowledged significant headwinds facing the industry.
Bowlero, which owns the Lucky Strike brand along with other bowling and entertainment chains, has been navigating challenges including rising operational costs, shifting consumer spending habits, and a competitive entertainment market. The Wrigleyville spot was a popular destination for pre- and post-game crowds during Cubs games, offering bowling lanes, arcade games, and a full bar. Its closure leaves a notable vacancy in a corridor that has seen rapid development in recent years, with new hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues opening nearby.
Patrons who had reservations or gift cards are being directed to other Lucky Strike locations in the Chicago area, including the South Loop and Lincoln Park. The company has not announced plans for the space or any potential replacement. For now, the Wrigleyville location's doors remain locked, and the neon sign is dark.
