Mark Reilly Takes the Top Editorial Role at Twin Cities Business Journal

The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal has named Mark Reilly as its new editor-in-chief. He will step into the role next month, taking over for Dirk DeYoung, who is retiring after leading the publication's newsroom.

Reilly has been a key figure at the Business Journal for nearly two decades. He joined the paper in 2006 as managing editor, overseeing daily news coverage and helping shape the publication's focus on local business, real estate, and economic development. Before that, he worked as a reporter covering commercial real estate and later served as an assistant managing editor.

In his new position, Reilly will be responsible for guiding the newsroom's strategy and editorial direction across print and digital platforms. The Business Journal covers the Twin Cities metro area and greater Minnesota, with a focus on breaking business news, industry trends, and executive profiles.

DeYoung's retirement marks the end of a long tenure. He joined the Business Journal in the late 1990s and became editor-in-chief in 2005. Under his leadership, the paper expanded its online presence and deepened its coverage of startups, manufacturing, and healthcare.

Reilly said in a statement that he looks forward to building on the paper's reputation for in-depth reporting and community engagement. He emphasized the importance of covering the region's economic shifts and the people driving them.
