McNeese Transitioning to Online Classes and Remote Business at Noon

McNeese Transitioning to Online Classes and Remote Business at Noon

Due to persistent electrical problems affecting multiple academic buildings, McNeese State University has announced a shift to remote operations. Beginning at 12 noon today, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, all classes will transition to online delivery, and university business will be conducted remotely.

The decision was made to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff while also maintaining academic continuity. Campus officials identified ongoing electrical issues in several key buildings, necessitating the temporary change. While specific buildings were not all named, the widespread nature of the problems prompted the campus-wide adjustment.

University administrators emphasize that this move is a precautionary measure. Essential personnel will remain on campus as needed, but all non-essential employees are to work remotely. Students are advised to check their university email and online learning platforms for direct communication from their instructors regarding class schedules and assignments.

A timeline for a full return to normal on-campus operations will be provided once electrical assessments and any necessary repairs are completed. The university states that updates will be communicated through its official alert system and website.
